Farewell and thank you, Darren

Darren Copson, Multisol UK Site Manager at Irlam, Manchester is retiring from the business after almost 33 years. He joined from the RAF in 1991 and during his career has played a key role in many of the significant achievements amassed by the Irlam team. These include ISO accreditations including ISO 9001,14001, 45001 and the implementation of key chemical industry initiatives, such as Responsible Care and Process safety management (AIPSM). Darren has led the team on various major engineering and site infrastructure projects over the years and successfully, with his management team, navigated Irlam through the Covid 19 pandemic, safeguarding the site’s operational integrity and ensuring that the site remained fully functional for Multisol’s valued customers and suppliers. Last year, Irlam reached the impressive milestone of a decade without a lost work-day accident, a feat that was recognised by the Chemical Business Association (CBA), the leading organisation representing the complete chemical supply chain in awarding Multisol Irlam, the Responsibility Care Award for Distributors with Operational Sites.

In November, Darren was also recognised by the CBA and awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award, highly recommended for his valuable and continuing contribution to the business, the wider Chemical supply chain, Responsible Care and the CBA.

We all wish Darren a long and happy retirement. He has been integral to the success of our Irlam business, a real team player and someone whose sense of responsibility is an inspiration to us all. He leaves a lasting legacy.”
