Multisol sponsorship and presentation at the UEIL Congress 2023
Multisol CEO, David Hopkinson was honoured to address the UEIL (Union of the European Lubricants Industry) Congress 23, at its annual conference in June in the city of Manchester, UK.
The theme for this year’s highly anticipated event, “Sustainable Value Chains: Securing the future of the European lubricant industry”, is of fundamental importance for every business across the sector, as markets navigate the considerable challenges the industry faces during an intense period of transition.
David’s presentation explored the topic of sustainability along different stages of the value chain, especially for distribution of lubricants. In his well-received presentation, David highlighted the need to understand supply chain dependencies by addressing the question, ‘How can distributors contribute to a more resilient supply chain in a changing regulatory landscape?’
The complex and often challenging issues affecting the industry and its supply chain are many. David’s presentation considered ways to ‘reduce geopolitical, technological and single-sourcing vulnerabilities’; to preserve beneficial supplier relationships and prosperous global interconnections; to spot over-the-horizon risks with early sensing and scenario planning; and to provide fair trade opportunities for smaller, developing economies’. A discussion followed with audience engagement and Q&As adding to the impact and interest generated by David’s presentation.
The annual UEIL Congress brings together senior executives, business leaders and key decision makers from the European lubricants sector in a single forum to discuss and debate the latest issues that are affecting the industry: the impact of electrification in the automotive sector, managing complex supply chain issues in an uncertain environment or meeting increased customer expectations amid greater regulatory demands. The circular economy and geopolitical volatility were other key topics that engaged the 200-plus delegates.
